The most popular activities for a relaxing holiday

Your peaceful holiday in Nida

Most people rush to Nida in the summer, thinking that this is the only season full of activities and adventures. However, few people know that autumn can be the best time to relax in the Curonian Spit: the tourist buzz dies down, Nida reveals its tranquillity and authentic natural beauty, and there are just as many interesting activities to do as in summer. Are you unsure? Ideas for things to do in Nida in autumn.

Briefly:

Mushroom and berry picking in Nida

From late summer to November, mushroom and berry enthusiasts should head to the forests of the Spit in search of these goodies. In the Curonian Spit especially abundant are the goatfish, brown-headed, and leps, as well as the red-headed booby, a favourite of Nida's mushroom pickersbetter known among the general population as "balseviches".

The Curonian Spit forests are also home to blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and lingonberries. The seaside is also home to a large number of red thorn berries, which we encourage you to pick for jams and teas. Here's a tip: you'll find most of the berries in the Juodkrante and Nida area.

Before you go mushroom picking, check where parking is available Nida. Please also note that in the Curonian Spit National Park it is forbidden to enter the forest and drive motor vehicles through it.

Mushroom picking is allowed everywhere, except in Grobšto and Nagliai Nature Reserves. The exception applies to persons who have declared their place of residence in the municipality of Neringa, who will be able to pick mushrooms and berries in nature reserves from 1 September to 30 November.

Hiking in the Curonian Spit

Autumn hikes in the Curonian Spit are special for their tranquillity and unforgettable views. The forests and dunes are bathed in warm autumn colours, the air is crisp and the paths are almost empty, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and the closeness of nature without the hustle and bustle of tourists. In and around Nida, you'll find many hiking trails through beautiful forests, dunes and the seaside. Some of our recommendations for hiking in Nida:

1. Route "Getting to know the dunes of Nida"

As you follow the route, you will see and understand how different they can be: the highest and the smoothest, the white and the grey, the natural or the man-made... This recognisable and seemingly familiar feature is in fact still unknown to many - so let's go on a journey. Click here for the route:

2. Route in Pervalka "Around the Horse Horn"

It is particularly suitable for autumn visits, as you will pass a birdwatching tower along the route, from which it is interesting to observe birds preparing for migration. You will also see the Horse Horn Lighthouse and a panorama of the Dead Dunes. You'll hike along the beach, where you'll admire spectacular sandy cliffs that you won't see anywhere else in Neringa! The route is 5 kilometres long and has plenty of resting places - from benches to a wooden deckchair that can accommodate the whole family - so it's easy to do with children.
