Dolphinarium and Maritime Museum
Key information
The Maritime Museum and its Dolphinarium is one of the most visited museums in Lithuania. It is the only museum of its kind in the Baltics that allows you to learn about and see everything related to the aquatic world - from marine biology and animals to the history of shipping and fishing traditions. See aquatic animals up close (dolphins, Californian sea lions, seals, various species of fish), different marine ecosystems in 24 aquariums, ancient ships and the life of seafarers.

Our recommendations
To make your visit to the Maritime Museum a smooth one, here are some of our main recommendations on what to look out for:
- Check the ferry timetable in advance, especially in the warm season when there are more travellers.
- Buy your tickets online - it's more convenient, saves you time when you arrive and lets you know the exact time of the dolphins' performance (they only perform during certain hours, not regularly).
- Please note that when purchasing tickets at the ticket office, payment can only be made by bank card.
Dolphinarium
Watching the dolphins perform is not only a fun activity, but also an educational spectacle. The performance reveals the natural behaviour of these animals, showing their plasticity, strength, playfulness and willingness to interact with each other and with humans. Watching these animals perform combines both playfulness and knowledge of nature, and will be of interest to children and adults alike.
Aquarium
Another immersive and interesting part of the museum is the 25 aquariums, which are home to over 180 species of marine cold-water fish, coral reefs, freshwater fish and invertebrates. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the 18-metre-long transparent tunnel, where sturgeons of impressive size swim overhead and around you, which you can see up close. The coral reef aquariums, where you'll see rare species of fish, are sure to impress.
History of shipping exhibition
The exhibition in the Nerija Fort tells the story of Lithuania's maritime history - from the first ships to modern shipping. You can see ancient anchors, ship models and sailing ships, hear stories about the biggest shipwrecks, and learn about the development of the Lithuanian fleet.
Marine Nature Exposition
First of all, it has one of the largest collections of mollusc shells in Europe - more than 23,000! You'll also see a “living fish fossil” dating back to the time of the dinosaurs, and learn about the biodiversity of the deep sea. Children and adults alike will be fascinated by the predatory marine animals: rays, barracudas, swordfish, moray eels, sea devils and more.
