Other frequently asked questions:
How long does it take to visit?
A visit to this site alone will take about 30-40 minutes (depending on how much time you want to spend walking and enjoying nature). If you go further along the nature trail towards Parnidis Dune, you will spend about 1 hour.
Do we recommend visiting with children?
It is a peaceful place for the whole family to spend time in nature. However, there are some harder places to pass (tree roots, sand), which can make it a bit difficult to get around with a stroller.
Valley of Silence
The Tylos valley is located in the shelter of the Parnidis dune, where the nature trail to the Parnidis dune starts. When visiting Nida, don't forget to visit the Silence Valley, stop and „listen to the silence speak in the Silence Valley“.The diversity of Neringa's nature is revealed here: dry, sandy meadows, the intersection of the valley and the dunes, the water flowing down from the dunes in springs and the abundant variety of plants and insects.
This valley is very easy to pass by on the Nida walking route, which can be viewed here:
On the shore of the lagoon, you will find the five-metre-high Neringa Chair, which recalls the legend of the giant Neringa, who built a sand spit to protect the local fishing boats from sea storms. And the inscription on it says: „Sit down, passenger, in the chair of the giantess Neringa and listen to the silence in the Valley of Silence“ - take my advice, stop and hear that even the pine trees around the Valley of Silence smell quieter.
The valley also hosts various annual festivities, such as wreath weaving on the summer equinox, the Midsummer procession and other events.
It is a very peaceful place where you will usually not meet strangers - just silence, the waves of the lagoon and quiet time in nature.
